Are you having an oral surgeon remove your wisdom teeth? The important thing to remember is it’s not the surgery process itself that’s difficult. That part is actually a piece of cake — you’ll be supremely numb or so knocked out you have little to no memory of the experience. No, the hard part is the recovery — the day or two after the surgery. The good news is there are things you can do to ensure a nearly pain free recovery. First, don’t plan to do much. Block out the next day or two after your surgery for recovery. Get plenty of rest. Take the pain medication we give you — and don’t wait until you are in pain to take it. The medicine will take an hour to kick in, so it’s best to take a little early just in case. When you eat, stick to soft foods like rice, Jell-O, and soup. Go easy on yourself.
