We offer solutions for any budget and any timeline, including new procedures like same-day dental implants for eligible patients.

Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Offer the Best Care

The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) is the certifying board for the medical specialization of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the US. It is recognized and approved by the Council on Dental Education and Licensure of the American Dental Association.

The mission of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is to assure the public of safe and optimal care through the development and maintenance of high standards of certification and re-certification of Diplomates in the specialty. To achieve and retain his board certification, Dr. Puckett takes intensive exams and continuing education, which allows us to offer our patients the best in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The ABOMS exam is a 2-day test that evaluates knowledge in anatomy, pathology, surgery, diagnosis, treatment, and ethics. Certified oral surgeons are required to participate in continuing education credits every year, which means Dr. Puckett is always on top of his game and the newest developments in dental technology.

Board-Certified Oral Surgeons Offer Patients Complete Peace of Mind

ABOMS establishes criteria for competence and knowledge that determines the standards of care to safely practice the specialty. Dr. Puckett demonstrated achievement of this extensive training, experience and knowledge and was granted board certification, indicated by title Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

In order to become Board Certified, Dr. Puckett completed a rigorous application and examination process that extends over several years. Verifiable evidence of educational and training qualifications, as well as experience was required. The process of board certification requires passing both a thorough written qualifying examination and an intense oral certifying examination.

The ABOMS strongly encourages its Diplomates to continue their professional development through various educational experiences. As a Diplomate of the ABOMS, Dr. Puckett maintains his excellent level of care through ongoing professional education that includes national meetings, seminars and lectures.

How Wilmington Oral Surgery Takes Top-Notch Care a Step Further

We don’t rest on our laurels here, because we know patients all have specialized needs – not just the treatments they require, but the kind of care. Nervous patients might need sedation for their oral procedures. Geriatric patients may need significant dental grafting before they can take a reconstruction method. Patients with health issues may need alternatives to anesthesia or painkillers post-op. We take measures to make sure every patient gets the tailored care they need.

As well, we stay at the head of the curve when it comes to cutting-edge dental tech and holistic oral treatments, including:

  • Denting bone grafting
  • Waterlase root canals
  • Homeopathic aftercare kits
  • Holistic dental reconstruction
  • 3D cone-beam x-rays
