Sedation for Oral Surgery Explained

As a licensed oral surgeon practicing near Cincinnati, Dr. Puckett is certified to administer all forms of sedation dentistry. Your comfort is his top concern. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, can be administered through a soft mask that goes over the nose. It helps you relax and ease any anxiety. We can also administer oral sedation through tablets — this is a much stronger approach than nitrous oxide. You’ll feel a bit groggy and may even fall asleep for the procedure. IV sedation is generally reserved for more complex oral surgeries like complex wisdom teeth removal. You’ll be completely knocked out with no memory of the surgery.
