We’ll be honest with you. Having your wisdom teeth removed is no picnic. It’s an extensive and invasive procedure that will require considerable rest, recovery, and healing. Before sitting down with your doctor prior to the wisdom teeth extraction, it’s a good idea to do your research so you know what questions to ask. As a trained oral surgeon, he or she is an expert on the subject and can best help you prepare for the procedure. Many of our patients are curious about the anesthesia — what kind will we use? Will you feel anything? That depends on your own care and comfort needs. You can be put entirely under throughout the procedure, or be so numb and relaxed that you are not consciously aware and will likely have no memory of the experience. The good news is you won’t feel anything during the operation itself. It’s the rest and recovery time that can be a bit uncomfortable.
