A Brief Guide of Preparing for Mouth surgery

If you are facing oral surgery, it’s best to prepare yourself for your appointment in order to avoid complications and ensure a speedy recovery. First, meet with your oral surgeon to discuss the procedures of the surgery in detail. What can you expect when it comes to anesthesia? Will you be awake for the experience? Will someone need to drive you home? Prepare a list of questions beforehand, so you have all the bases covered. Ask your surgeon if you should avoid eating or drinking anything before your appointment. If you are undergoing an intravenous (IV) or general anesthetic, it’s important not to eat or drink anything 12 to 14 hours before the surgery (this includes water). Be sure to dress practically for your operation. Wear short-sleeved, comfortable, and loose-fitting clothing. Avoid wearing jewelry as you may be asked to remove it prior to the surgery.
