How Our Patients Save Money On Wisdom Teeth Removal Procedures

thumbs up for saving money on oral surgery

Throughout the centuries, wisdom teeth have not changed. What has changed, however, is how dental professionals approach the cost of wisdom teeth removal.

At Wilmington Oral Surgery, we aim to provide excellent surgical services at fair and honest prices. Compared to other offices, Wilmington Oral Surgery’s cost for removing wisdom teeth will save patients $600 – $1000, on average, depending upon the position of the teeth.

“How can this be?” you may wonder.

Save Money On Wisdom Teeth Extractions

A few important factors result in this savings to our patients:

  1. At Wilmington Oral Surgery, we only charge for the amount of anesthesia time actually needed for the procedure. Standard practice, however, is to charge for the ‘insurance allowed’ anesthesia time (60 minutes in four 15-minute increments), even when the procedure usually takes far fewer than 60 minutes.
  2. At Wilmington Oral Surgery, we only code for the actual position of the teeth.  We will never choose to code to a higher level, which would result in an increased cost of at least $100 per tooth.
  3. At Wilmington Oral Surgery, we base our fees on a fair and reasonable understanding of our costs and value of the service provided. We do not base our fees on the recommended amounts listed in the ‘Fee Schedule’ book which most oral surgery and dental offices use.
  4. At Wilmington Oral Surgery, we do not allow the dental insurance industry to dictate what the patient ‘needs’. Frequently, insurance companies will not cover commonly used extraction codes, and they also will ‘review’ anesthesia coverage. We all know what that means…

Minimize Oral Surgery Anxiety…. And Costs

Going to an oral surgeon is not usually eagerly anticipated. Therefore, at Wilmington Oral Surgery we make every effort to minimize the anxiety related to both the surgery and the pocketbook.
