Oral Surgeons Unite! Our AAOMS Alliance.

AAOMS logo

There are more than 9,000 oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States, and we at Wilmington Oral Surgery are proud to be associated with our esteemed colleagues.

The professional organization that unites these surgeons is the AAOMS: the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons

To be a member of the AAOMS, you must comply with ongoing education requirements, and the AAOMS evaluates your office. There are strict national standards that this group enforces, to make sure that all oral and maxillofacial surgeons are up to date with new scientific advancements. This group ensures the professionalism and abilities of all surgeons in this field.

We are pleased to say that our own Dr. Scott A. Puckett is a fully certified member of the AAOMS, as well as being Clinton County’s board certified oral surgeon.

Oral Surgery Education

The AAOMS is also involved heavily with educating dental students and residents, and in ensuring the skill and abilities of the next generation of oral health professionals. Part of this education is rooted in training, and part of this is ongoing research to advance the field of oral surgery. Innovation and advancement in this field continues, and the AAOMS is at the forefront of new scientific knowledge.

Our professional alliance is also invested in advocacy and in government affairs. A whole branch of the AAOMS is based in clarifying our group’s positions on advocacy issues, and working with legislators to represent the needs of surgeons and patients in this field.

If you would like to learn more about this group, which is based in Illinois, check out www.AAOMS.org. Our members also convene in locations across the country, to discuss best practices and protocols for having the safest and most informed oral surgery offices.
