When Is Sedation Used for Oral Surgery Appropriate?

Sedatives that are administered in oral surgeries are a safe, effective option for putting the patient into a relaxed, less anxious state of mind. Used in conjunction with topical anesthetics applied in mouth surgeries, the patient doesn’t feel pain either, but they still remain conscious. These sedatives are appropriate for more intense operations like having wisdom teeth pulled and others. They can also be a miracle drug for patients who exhibit severe dental anxiety. The sedative puts their mind at ease and allows the operation to continue. Only in very rare cases do surgeons administer anesthesia that fully puts a patient under for dental work.
