When a Wisdom Teeth Bone Graft Might Prove Necessary

Unfortunately, wisdom tooth extractions aren’t always as simple as a little incision and removal of the wisdom teeth. Sometimes the wisdom teeth are stuck in the jaw, or their position has moved teeth and compromised bone density in your jaw. In these cases, your oral surgeon will likely recommend a dental bone graft after your wisdom tooth extraction. Bone grafts placed at the extraction site of wisdom teeth support the jaw, improve density, and support the two molars directly in front of the wisdom teeth. This way, you can repair any damage the teeth may have caused, and prevent more damage from an empty socket.
